The Queensland Government has released the construction tender for a new Youth Foyer at 12-14 Dulin St, Maroochydore, to provide supported accommodation for young people.

The 50 apartments and 24/7 support will provide stable housing for 16 to 25-year-olds experiencing or at risk of homelessness and committed to study, training or work.

The Sunshine Coast Youth Foyer will provide the units for vulnerable young Queenslanders aged 16-25 facing housing insecurity while they are learning and earning.

Young people must be in work, education or training

Tenants will be required to pay about 25 per cent of their income in rent and receive 24/7 on-site support while they complete education, training or work.

Minister for Housing Sam O’Connor said eight Youth Foyers were being rolled out across Queensland to help young people build independence and learn skills for life.

New Youth Foyers will be delivered in Brisbane, Ipswich, Moreton Bay, Hervey Bay, Toowoomba, the Sunshine Coast, Rockhampton and Cairns – on top of existing foyers in Townsville, Logan and the Gold Coast.

‘Young Queenslanders can’t get ahead if they don’t have a safe place to call home,’ Minister O’Connor said.

‘This is a fantastic opportunity for builders to work with us and be involved in a project that will change lives.’

Construction is due to begin in 2027 ahead of completion in 2028.
