Pomona & District Community House is inviting the community to its annual Pride celebration which this year is an all-ages dance party.
Pride Party – Wear It Purple is on Saturday 15 August from 7pm to 9pm, with doors and licensed bar opening at 6pm. Refreshments and light snacks will be available.
Pomona & District Community House Projects Officer, Kate Marian Rose, said the Pride Party celebrated inclusion, connection and belonging, welcoming LGBTQIA+SB people, their families, friends and allies to share an evening of music and dancing.
The acronym LGBTQIA+SB stands for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Queer, Intersex, Asexual and Sister-Girl/Brother-boy.
Ms Rose said people of all ages were invited to contribute danceable songs for the Pride Party playlist by following the QR code on the poster.
‘Young people have been sharing their favourite dance tracks in the lead-up to the event, but the playlist is for everyone’ Ms Rose said.
‘We love creating opportunities where people of different generations come together, celebrate and enjoy the same space.’
Ms Rose said the sprung dance floor and iconic disco ball at the Majestic Theatre in Pomona, made it an ideal venue for a community dance party.

Ms Rose said while entry to the Pride Party 2026 was free, bookings were essential.
The event also helps raise awareness of Wear It Purple Day, Australia’s annual day of support for LGBTQIA+ young people, on Friday 28 August. Founded in 2010, the national initiative encourages communities to wear purple to show rainbow young people they are seen, valued and supported. The 2026 theme is Colours of Courage.
