Two Queensland farming families have won 2025 National Landcare Awards for climate innovation and sustainable agriculture, in an award ceremony on the Gold Coast last month.
Monto beef producers Grant and Carly Burnham won the Climate Innovation Award which celebrates exceptional dedication and ingenuity in tackling the climate challenges confronting Australia.
The Burnhams and their four children are ecological and organic beef producers at Bonnie Doone west of Monto in the North Burnett.
The family are highly regarded leaders in the agricultural industry, regularly invited to speak and share their experiences of ecological agriculture and soil carbon sequestration.

‘At Bonnie Doone, we consider ourselves soil farmers,’ the Burnham family website says.
‘Our practices are focussed on the regeneration of the earth and improvement of our soils.
‘The gift of generational land management is wisdom and connection that runs through the veins of people who walk the earth. Similarly, technology and contemporary thinking opens opportunities and nuanced practices in this agricultural and natural system.
‘For The Burnhams it is about honouring the deep roots and beating heart of the landscape, producing natural grass-fed beef in an organic agricultural system.’
