Gympie residents from diverse backgrounds feature in an exhibition called The Very Fabric of Society at ART POST, a new contemporary gallery in Channon Street.
Styled by artistic director and photographer Cindy Vogels and photographer Brea Martin, the portraits show Gympie personalities with an item of personal significance and a piece of fabric they chose to go with their portrait.

‘These intimate and creative portraits highlight each individual’s unique story and contribution to the fabric of our society,’ Ms Vogels said.

‘This project is about celebrating the beautiful diversity that exists within our town,’ Ms Vogels said.
‘Every person has their own colourful background, their own story which unfolds in each portrait.

Co-photographer Brea Martin said the goal of the project was to capture authenticity.
‘We want each person to feel empowered, seen, and celebrated through their portrait.’

‘Hollywood films often have court scenes with a lawyer saying we must uphold the fabric of society,’ Ms Vogels told the crowd.
‘We wanted to show the world what we think is the fabric of society.
‘We are the fabric of society.’
The project was funded by The Regional Arts Development Fund in partnership with the Queensland Government and Gympie Regional Council.
The portraits are on display until Saturday 9 November at ART POST, 22 Channon Street.
