Gympie Regional Council Mayor, Glen Hartwig, said ‘As part of the 2024/25 budget, council has allocated $931,375 towards our region’s aquatic facilities.
‘This funding supports recent upgrades at the ARC, flood recovery works at Kandanga and improvements currently underway at Tin Can Bay Pool, to name a few.’
Tin Can Bay and Kilkivan Pool repairs
Cr Hartwig said recoating of the Tin Can Bay Pool shell would begin soon, with contractors to be confirmed next week. Repairs to shade sail structures are complete and the kiosk is scheduled for repainting. Reopening of Tin Can Bay Pool is scheduled before the end of 2024.
Education Queensland owns Kilkivan Pool with repairs being carried out by Q-Build.
Council will make an announcement on reopening of the Kilkivan Pool on council’s Facebook page once EQ provides further advice.
Cr Hartwig said pools were more than places to swim; they were vital community facilities where people of all ages would come together, stay active and have fun.
‘I encourage everyone to get friends and family together and enjoy a day out at your local pool this season,’ Cr Hartwig said.
